Mens Team Captain - Simon Dale

January 2012

Hi men,

Well another XC season coming to a close, just Witham left in the 53-12 league on the 12th feb.
Hope to see you all there!! Also the national XC champs for those that are entered on the 25th feb.

You should all know by now what your Marshall duties are for this Sunday at our half. If not, let us know & we will tell you. For those that are running the half, the very best of luck too you all & I hope the weather is kind.

If you don't already know, we always have a nice selection of cakes & rolls in the village hall after the 1/2 for sale.
This is because all you guys & the woman are asked to bring along something. If you could bring either some cake or make up some rolls, it's always appreciated!

January's runner of the month is RUSS SHARP, Russ has been out with a few injuries until recently. He has made his comeback at the Cross Countrys & has improved with each & every race. Although not back to full fitness yet, I'm sure it won't be too long before he is firing on all cylinder's once again. Nice to have you back Russ!

That's all for now, see you Sunday.
Simon

December 2011

Firstly I'd like to wish you all a very happy new year!

I hope you all enjoyed your running in 2011 as much as I have, it's been great seeing you all achieving your goals!

The turnouts at XC have been fantastic this season & I hope will continue for the last 3 meets.

We have some extra XC fixtures this year too, the County champs, the national champs & the Essex XC relays. Thanks to the men that have shown an interest in this & are ready to up a level!!!

I am very much looking forward to this years running, especially to see you all with the bit between your teeth in the Friday 5's & our own 5k series!

Now to runner of the month, I have chosen GRAHAM SEMPLE as runner of the month for December. I feel he has really embraced the cross country this season & is even geared up for the Essex champs. I think 2012 will see him improve his times in most of his races! Well done Graham!

I would just like to add that I know it's marathon training for a lot of us, now but please don't forget to try to get down the club for some of the club runs.

I know you'll be doing a lot of miles on your own, but some structured training will still be useful!

Wishing you lots of happy racing in 2012, Keep up the good work.

Ladies Team Captain - Nicky Brown
February 2012
Oh ladies what a January we have had taking 1st place at XC, just mind blowing.

Sheer hard work, determination and GBRC team work is taking the ladies to another level and getting noticed by other clubs, you should all be proud of yourselves. January also saw a team of ladies go to a new XC fixture for us at Basildon and again the ladies did themselves proud. We have a team training for our 1/2 marathon on 5th February and I'm sure you'll join me in wishing them luck, also we have Janine, Cherie and Lara training hard for London and it's not easy on these dark cold days.

Anyway ladies it's again been a difficult to come to a decision as there was three ladies who I particularly had in the frame as they have all been working and racing hard so after much deliberation and after a stonking performance today and I still believe a lot more in her engine the RUNNER OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY IS KIRA keep it up, your going from strength to strength, lots of self belief and always with a great smile on her face a great addition the GBRC ladies squad

I would also to congratulate Julia Gardner & Nicola Welham this month you two are cutting your way through the field, superb!!!!!!!. keep it up.

Well done everyone,keep it up.

January 2012

Hello ladies

I hope I find you all well, we are now coming to the close of 2011 and I would like to express how you have all improved this last year individually and as a team. We have had some great new additions this year to a squad that was already growing in strength and quality and this has shown itself in your individual performances and again the team which this XC season is going threw the roof we finished 2nd last time out and personally I believe a few others out there stepping forward we could have been first all I know is we have shocked the other clubs, but there is only one drawback you are only as good as your last performance and they we all be wanting to push us back so ladies PLEASE try your best to attend the XC fixtures so they don't all go away saying it was just a one off as we know we are better than that, this includes all abilities as you know I'm no fast runner but it's also the likes of us that stop other coming through so ladies 14 Jan is the date to see the GBRC blue army back on form. Also I know we are going from strength to strength when him indoors starts putting out emails pleading for guys to run as as he says MORE women at training, more women wanting to run and blowing our trumpet about XC, so ladies you know you've arrived when Heir Chairman starts giving you praise. In my words you are all so WORTHY.

Anyway now to my Runner of the Month for December this lady has joined the club threw herself into her first meeting with us at the Harwich XC country 'Baptism of Fire' the girls got balls and then at Halstead finished 6th stonking so I'm sure you all join me in congratulating Emily Zethraeus she has a great 2012 in prospect Well Done!!

Anyway ladies I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR enjoy and see you all on the 14th Jan lets break the clubs finances when there more women out there than ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forever proud of you all
NickyX
